Can I scribe the shelf?

The short answer is yes, but it is very hard to do and not recommended.

If there is a gap smaller than ¼” between the back of the shelf and the wall we recommend using clear silicone, which will when dried, leave shadows in such a way that the human eye cannot see the cap anymore.

If you still opt to scribe, (you must scribe the top and bottom of your wood shelf and these, most of the time, are not in synchronicity), pick the deepest spot, add the 1-inch depth of the bracket and that is how far the female bracket has to be attached further inside the back of the shelf.
