We know sometimes getting acquainted with new hardware can be a little obtuse at first, particularly as a first timer. That's why we made this page to help clarify exactly what you need for your individual projects. With all that being said, lets get started from the very basics.
1. The Classic - Aluminum Hovr Bracket
This is our bread and butter. The system that put us on the map and the most common product we sell. We offer this in approximately 2-foot, 4-foot, and 8-foot lengths. The brackets (when ordered from us come with all necessary screws and the two components of the bracket needed for the install. Orders of $100 or more qualify for free shipping, with the exception of the 8-footer, which we charge shipping for due to the high freight costs applied to it due to it's dimensions.
Note: We often ship multiple brackets in one box to streamline shipping and reduce waste. If you receive "less brackets than you ordered" be sure to open up all the boxes and packages and double check the internal contents.
2. The Slim - 1.125" Aluminum Hovr Bracket
We've been in the game a while now and one piece of feedback we kept hearing was that many of our customers wanted an option for thinner shelves. We also offer this in 2-foot, 4-foot, and 8-foot lengths (as with the Classic, we offer free shipping over $100, but the 8-foot option has an additional cost to ship). Like the Classic, the Slim comes with all the core hardware you need for an install but first timers may still need an installation bit pack if they don't own the tools to drill the set screw holes and taps. The Hovr Slim uses more aluminum than the Classic in order to be strong at the smaller size, so it sits at the same price point, but it does trade strength for it's smaller size, so it's best use if the dimensions not strength are a priority in your install. It's designed to be supplementary to the Classic bracket, not a replacement for it.
Note: We often ship multiple brackets in one box to streamline shipping and reduce waste. If you receive "less brackets than you ordered" be sure to open up all the boxes and packages and double check the internal contents.
3. The First Timer - Installation Bit Pack
This contains the drill bits you may not already own, which are needed to drill the holes in the bracket required for the install. This includes the:
17/64" HSS Jobber Drill Bit - 135" Split Point Black Oxide: to drill the pilot holes for the set screws in the underside of the shelf. These lock the brackets together and stabilize the assembly, as well as stop the shelf from wiggling or falling off the wall.
5/16" - 18 HSS Plug Taper Bit: To create the threads needed for the hole.
Note: While the product image shows a small box, in most cases, we ship these components inside one of the bracket boxes.
4. The Retail Buyer - Installation Hardware Pack
This one causes a fair bit of confusion sometimes so we wanted to clarify. Sometimes customers buy our bracket from a reseller, distributor, or hardware store. We ALWAYS recommend others sell the bracket with hardware included, but despite this, some will occasionally choose not to include it. When this happens, customers are often frustrated and look for a one-stop solution to grab the missing hardware... This is the product for that situation. If you bought Hovr Brackets from someone else and they didn't include the screws and hardware, this is the item for you. But if you purchased directly from us to begin with, you should not really ever need this item.
Note: Like with the bit pack, while the product image shows a small box, in most cases, we ship these components inside one of the bracket boxes.
5. The Heavy Duty - Custom Bent Steel Bracket
We have a ton of resources available on this one. Since it's custom made, we don't list it on the website, but this is the custom product we offer for those looking to really push limits. We see this used to make floating benches, fireplace mantels, and other high weight, heavy duty installs. To learn more, including how to order and pricing, head over to our Steel Bracket FAQ, linked above in the heading.
6. The Bits and Bobs - Other Accessories
The rest of the items on our accessories page all come with overviews explaining when you'll need them but the key thing here is they are all there to fill a niche need. Sometimes our customers want to glue their brackets instead of or as well as using set screws, need drywall anchors for single-stud installs with lower weight capacity, or need a washer to space the bracket from an uneven wall. Each of these products will give you a brief overview of when you need it so feel free to click on each to learn more, but the core thing to know is they are not key to a standard installation.
