The aluminum will not rust or deteriorate over time.
The steel bracket, if exposed to direct rain will rust over time and that rust may flow down the sides or out of the bottom of the shelf.
The integrity is not compromised, since rust is only a protective layer, although this is true for only a few decades. Eventually, after a very long time, it will fail.
